These words, from Tullula’s founder, Tanya Doveton – echo what this up-and-coming brand’s values are all about, which, in a nutshell, is – beauty with purpose. How it all started

South African-born entrepreneur and mom of two, Tanya Doveton founded the Tululla brand whilst on a mission to find her true self and her confidence. “My journey to self-love and acceptance thus far hasn’t been an easy one, but I’m humbled to be in a place of healing and can wholeheartedly help others on their path to finding their purpose through the Tululla channels,” she says.

As a young, competitive swimmer – Tanya learned first-hand the impact that good nutrition and the correct supplementation would have on her performance in the water. However, being 6ft tall at 12 years old, she was bullied throughout school and labelled as the ‘huge girl’. This resulted in Tanya developing body dysmorphia which led to years of undereating and over-exercising, causing her to suffer from brittle hair and nails, as well as a dull complexion, lack of energy and low self-esteem.

The turning point came when Tanya fell pregnant with her daughter and became a mother. “My new role as a mother saved my life, because I saw my body in a different light and learned to appreciate and love it for carrying and birthing my child,” she says.  

Additionally, Tanya transformed her mind and rid herself of anxiety thanks to therapy, self-help books and transformational podcasts. “I can finally say I understand what it means to love myself and can see the difference that it makes in the world around me. I discovered that what it means to be beautiful is a perception. Beauty is about how you feel on the inside and everyone, no matter who you are or where you come from, deserves to feel beautiful. For me, beauty is also intertwined with living a life of purpose, as you see your worth and the impact it has on others. It’s so important to feel good about who you are and continue to share that feeling.”
